Curse client steals focus

I like the curse client fairly well, but it has been stealing focus whenever it pops up that a mod is updated, or there's a new suggested mod, or some new news is posted... it's been driving me nuts all day. I've even edited the Windows registry to ensure the DWORD is set to not allow focus stealing, it happens anyway.

OS = Vista x64.

Hmm i see.. I'll do some more testing with this. It's supposed to not happen, do you play in windowed mode? There's going to be a new version this week, I'd like to have the definitely fixed across all operating systems by then.

Is this actual input i/e keyboard and mouse focus or do you mean that the window is top most visually?

Oh you call that news? strange... i call that commercial, and being spammed with it as a reward for making this website alive uploading data is really nice of curse.... . But it will be without me. ASP i was with you since beta of VG, helped find bugs, i am currently in top 10 of VG uploaders, but this spam is a little too much for me. Get ride of it imo, peoples helping upload data don't want to be annoyed by littles windows, it needs to be invisible when you run the uploader like it was before.

But if it is just news perhaps i missed the option to turn them off.... >

Right click the icon -> Configuration -> General -> Show News Notifications

I'm making a new system for it where it isn't as frequent in number of windows. We really are trying to deliver relevant MMO news to users. The news system will be significantly improved in the future.

Same here - this is my only current complaint with the client. Basically I would love it if I could open it and it would silently update behind the scenes. The current implementation pops up a progress bar both in the bottom right and in the middle of the screen that steals focus or puts visual info in front of me that I don't need.

In the middle of the screen? Should only happen if it needs to resort the file list if you have the package manager dialog open.

I have the same problem, except worse. I cannot get focus back onto wow. I have to kill the process. Obviously, this means death in any pvp situation. Here is a screenshot:

sorry about the right half of the picture - i dualview. I know this just shows the loading screen but it happens any time the curst client is active. and no, clicking on the screen will *not* change focus, and as you can see, there is no 'x' button to close the messages. oh, and all message notifications are off. There isnt an option to turn off 'updated' messages.

Hmm dual screen setup? Might have something to do with it. Haven't tried it with a dual screen setup and it tries to match the top application window size to the desktop resolution which might fail under these conditions. Also, you have a huge damn list of updated addons :) You probably should uninstall the client completely, including personal settings. I assume you use it to upload characters only?
