Curse Client

I downloaded the curse client today, and I read the guide that came with it. Am I correct in understanding that when I check packages, that the client is downloading them and installing them? If so, I have a listing of what it has downloaded, but nothing has been installed in my addons folder for WoW. Nor is there an install button on the client that I can press, to manually install them. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks for your time!

I'm passing this on to our client developer, thanks for the report!

You are not doing anything wrong. We are and we're working hard to fix it. The servers have been out to lunch tonight :)

I received a bunch of new addons and had to figure out how to set the options on a couple :) But the big thing is the client refuses to upload my characters. Could you run through that process step by step so I know what to expect when the client is in fact working? As an aside, your latest update to the client repaired a multitude of problems, thank you very much!!

Your character is being refused because of: "server not in database". Your character seems to be on the server WaR and you're playing on an emulated server as far as I can see. We can't support emulated servers because they are against the agreement you have with Blizzard.

I don't yet have any agreement with blizzard. I've been living in the Ukraine the last 2 years and had no money for Internet. Hence I found the Ukraine server WAR which was free to connect to and played. I found I really liked the game (but can't stand the problems you get from an emulated server) Those definately kill any advantage you may find from not paying.

Now I have moved back to america and as soon as I am working plan to get a new computer and play on one of the live servers. I'll need to buy the client as well since I want to get away from anything connected with those screwed up emulated servers.

Yeah the bad quality of service (besides the loss of income :)) is one major reason why Blizzard doesn't want people playing on those. It hurts the brand and all that.

Well trust me on this - if people can see how totally screwed up the free servers are and they have the choice to use the live servers, I cannot understand why any would still use the free servers. I could write 10 pages easily on all the issues they have. If I hadn't been in the ukraine and basically closed off from the Internet I would never have used their city server there.

(of course I would never have played WOW either, having been into those types of games before and was staying away from a possible addiction :) :)) But since I had nothing to do in the Ukraine (my visa did not allow having a job), I had plenty of time to check it out. Now of course, I want to progress to a server that WORKS.  :) So in the end that will add money to Blizzard because they never would have gotten my business before. I had been avoiding the game.
